Homebound Missions July 2010 Newsletter
It is so hard to believe that it is the end of July. We hope that everyone has had a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather and get some extra relaxation and fellowship in with friends and relatives. That is my favorite part of summer, just relaxing and enjoying the company of the people I care about. Summer just seems to allow for that.
The Girls are Headed to Haiti
Magnalie and I, and my sister Debbie are headed to Haiti August 16 through the 23rd. The most exciting part of the visit for Magnalie is that she will be staying with her mom, sister and brother. They are one of the few fortunate ones who did not loose their house.
Debbie and I will be very busy. We have plans to visit sponsored children, the Maison des Enfants de Dieu orphange, the Heartline birthcenter and sewing school, and Three Angel’s medical clinic, and much more. We will highlight all our efforts upon our return. There will be a few surprises that we can’t wait to share.
Homebound Mission's Fundraising Continues
July 12, was the 6 month anniversary of Haiti's devistating earthquake. Haiti is not ok. The people, as always are the last priority for the government, but they are not last to HM's or to the ministries we source, they are in fact the first. Lives are being changed forever, one person; one family at a time.
We have set up a Chip In and are asking you to consider contributing to the work of HM's and to help us continue helping the least of these, in Haiti.
August is soon approaching and this is when school tuitions need to be paid in Haiti. The average cost for a full year is approximately $400.00. We have the following people asking for our assistance with school tuition:
Kathy and Kathianna (Obenson’s twins)
Hyppolite’s son (both his daughter’s school is paid)
Rebecca
Junior
Smith
Wilbert
Esterline
David
Vilia
Vilian
Penez (aka Matthew)
Michaud
Would you consider making a donation for school tuition? You can use the Chip In or send it through the mail. Every little bit counts. I am always amazed at how God can multiply the gifts. You may want to earmark your donation: School Tuition. We would be happy to send you a photo of the child you are helping to go to school with some of their personal information, so you can be praying for them regularly.
In Haiti, school is not free. If you cannot pay, you cannot go. Education is one of the keys to helping our families out of poverty. We are not soliciting for more students. These are the individuals we have continued to provide for over the years, except for one, Michaud who contacted us after the EQ for our help. We knew Michaud from Notre Maison an orphanage for special needs children that we sourced. They are no longer in existence.
We are receiving donations in the mail and although these do not show up on the Chip In meter we will post those amounts also. To date we have received $510.00 via the mail. Thank you!
Update on Clothing Donations
We have been receiving lots of winter clothing and so I thought it might be a good idea to update what our needs are. Haiti is always hot, about 90 degree F, so lightweight summer clothing is best.
New and gently used clothing and shoes, even baby clothes with stains are welcome as we will treat them before shipping.

Donations are never wasted. If we cannot use them we donate them to The Salvation Army, however it takes a lot of time and effort to process the donations and it is best if they match the needs of HM’s. Thank you so much for considering HM’s for your clothing donation.
After we return from Haiti I will post updated lists of items we are collecting for the organizations we source. These organizations include: Three Angel’s, Heartline Ministries, Maison des Enfants de Dieu (For His Glory), and the Apparent Project. Through them we are sourcing a medical clinic, a birthcenter, two orphanages, a school for children, and a sewing school for women. God has so blessed us with ministries that really want to change lives in Haiti. We could not be affiliated with better people on the ground in Haiti, they are the real deal.
The Blog
Hm's Blog will be up and running again soon. It will be getting a facelift of sorts and will function as a tool for building relationships, providing information to those interested in HM's efforts, and as a way to highlight the organizations we source and their efforts.
We hope this new format will help us to give our contributors, supporters and freinds an "insiders" personal look at the work HM's is accomplishing through the grace of God and all of you walking along side us in this effort. We will e-mail the new HM's Blog to everyone on start up day.
Thank you for all the sacrifices you make on behalf of Homebound Missions. It is truly because of you that these organizations, and our families are so blessed. Please continue to walk along side us as we move forward in meeting the tremendous needs of not only the ministries we source, but of the families we are trying to raise out of poverty. One family at a time, bringing glory to God.
